We also heard from Mike Harrison on the recent history and current development of Tiwi Corporations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/grld.cdu.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/7th-Meeting-06.11.2014-Transcript.docx\">7th Meeting (06.11.2014) Transcript<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Meeting 6<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><em>How might we participate or intervene in initiatives\u00a0currently\u00a0reworking\u00a0practices\u00a0of everyday life and land management in Northern Australia? <\/em>This meeting our discussion focused on policy changes around Natural Resource Management and the new Indigenous Advancement Strategy. Some\u00a0of us are beginning to\u00a0look for way to engage as researchers within the context of\u00a0these new federal government\u00a0initiatives. Working from the policy side, Jim Turnour talked to us about some of the developments around the promotion and formation of indigenous enterprise in Northern Queensland, as both a point of similarity and comparison for those working in the Northern Territory. Then talking about a conference on Indigenous Governance held recently in Canberra, Matt Campbell raised questions about ways in which authority was being constructed within this forum, and ways in which we can begin thinking about these &#8216;micro-politics&#8217; as another way to notice, and become sensitised to, the effects of the current buzz around governance.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/grld.cdu.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/1st-Draft-Transcript-28.08.2014-5th-Lunchtime-Governance-Discussion-1.docx\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\">5th Meeting (28.08.2014) Transcript<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0(Please feel free to suggest alterations!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Meeting 4<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"color: #919191;\"><em style=\"color: #333333;\">How can we help each other in our work?<\/em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0At this meeting the CRN Northern Futures team circulated a paper which they had been working on\u00a0entitled &#8216;Identifying tensions in the development of Northern Australia: Implications for governance&#8217;. They invited comment on the paper in which we revisited themes which are recurring for our group &#8211; what is this governance that we talk about, how does it relate to neoliberalising agendas, how might we work analytically and\u00a0empirically\u00a0within\u00a0it?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Questions\u00a0for discussion:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How does this paper resonate (or not) for you?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Can you think of\u00a0theoretical questions or approaches that might help us develop this (theoretical) question of \u2018governance in northern Australia\u2019?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If there are irreducible and incommensurable ways of being, are there processes or ways of communicating or being together that do not seek to order and assimilate?\u00a0How might we go about enabling these?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/grld.cdu.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/1st-Draft-Transcipt-16.07.2014-Meeting-4-Governance-Lunchtime-Discussions.docx\">4th Meeting (16.07.2014) Edited Transcript<\/a>\u00a0(Please feel free to suggest alterations!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"color: #919191;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Meeting 3<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><em>In what ways\u00a0do we do what we do?\u00a0<\/em>This meeting we continued to\u00a0explore some of the methods used by members of the group as they research and participate in practices of governance. We\u00a0had presentations which talked working with mental models, about modelling systems of Darwin Harbour, and about\u00a0a local knowledge event to be held later in the year.\u00a0We talked about beginning to develop a\u00a0<em>skills and experience register\u00a0<\/em>which could be useful for both ourselves as a group, and as a way to communicate what we do to others.
